Description

The Helix Nebula (NGC 7293) is a planetary nebula, referred to as the 'Eye of God', formed when an intermediate to low-mass star  sheds its outer layers near the end of its evolution. It resided in the constellation of Aquarius about 650 light-years away and is thought to be around 10,000 years old.
The remnant central stellar star is destined to become a white dwarf star.

A couple of clear nights of good seeing allowed me to get a decent set of subs and still hit the sack before midnight. As it is well placed for imaging right now with a 4 hour window that passes the meridian. Weather permitting, I plan to try to get a lot more data before summer and day-light saving  kicks in, and probably make some better choices in processing.
